Well, according to some sources, this is supposedly what Slash's brother, Ash, posted on his FB the other day:

"Corey Taylor of Slipknot is replacing Scott Weiland as The new Singer of Slash's band Velvet Revolver. F'n Dope!!!"

and also,

"that's word around the camp ; its going down! "

Which I'm totally into that, as long as it's more of a Slipknot vibe instead of Stone Sour.

I always thought Josh Brown from Day of Fire would be a good fit.  DOF just broke up as well.  The songs "Run", "Love", and "Jacob's Dream".

Alright, that's at least some news (if he really posted it, although if I were Slash's brother, I wouldn't reveal internal info just like that on my FB wall).

I like Corey, but I doubt he'd have time to commit to recording and touring with one more band.

"We were looking at Corey Taylor and then I left for tour so there's nothing being done at the moment. No decision"

What's there to decide?  Why is it so difficult?  They are looking for a singer - this guy is interested and what the guys say they want.

Slash's brother confirmed it.

I personally think the 'decision' has been made and they are just waiting for Slash and Duff promote their new records to anounce it.  If not, they'll be starting the search again in September?  They can't drag it on forever - at this point it's been too long.

I'm curious what goes into the whole deal (labels, negotiations, etc.).  It's got to be far more complex than just shooting out some demos and asking some local guys to record lyrics/vocals.  You have to have a label back you and believe that they can make money off you [and so on an so forth].

Not to mention, Slash does plan on doing another record with Myles, which is confirmed.  I can't imagine for a second that he'll just sit on his hands while Velvet Revolver eats up 4 or 5 years of his time.  He'll also want to properly promote it.

I take it back - this is all pretty confusing.

Eugh... I think Taylor's voice is too deep (dark?) for the classic rock sound of VR. But with the rumours of the new material being "darker".. it might work.

I'm more and more into the idea of taking Corey Taylor!! He could sing some of the stuff like SPAY, SPECTACLE or COME ON COME IN - the songs they didn't play so often!! And also so track called "Motha Fucka" could be interesting to hear with his voice!!

Well Slash and Duff will both be touring in the summer, too, so it won't be just Slipknot holding things up.

I've heard scuttlebutt of a new Slipknot record in 2012, but Joey Jordison just did a new (fucking awesome) Murderdolls record, and Corey is currently on tour with Stone Sour...that said, I'd be totally into Corey in VR, however if they don't do something SOON...I won't be the only one pretty much going "I DON'T FUCKIN' CARE!"

Well, it's just that Duff fuckin' slays with Loaded, and after seeing Slash on his solo tour with one of the better backing bands I've seen in a while, it's quickly becoming redundant.

Though the prospect of the four remaining members of the band playing heavier shit with Corey Taylor is better than porn.

The thing is with all the side projects, i doubt anything will happen.. Slash is busy, Duff has his thing going, I highly doubt anything will happen in any time soon..

To be honest, they are all but done.. They havent done anything in a couple of years. Both Duff and Slash have solo things going on. They have no label, and really they dont have much momentum to go on. Contraband was a hit because at the time they have momentum. As of right now, they dont. They really have no reason to continue on. It was a nice ride while it lasted, but that ride is over.

 On Corey Taylor
source:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corey_Taylor

However, according to a recent Billboard article, it seems likely that he may in fact, become the vocalist for Velvet Revolver, however no official confirmation has been made.[66] Duff McKagan added that they can neither "confirm or deny" Taylor's membership in the band but believes that Taylor is the "real deal". [67] It was reported on March 8, 2011 on Blabbermouth.net that Taylor was recently sporting a T-shirt with the words "I am not the new singer in Velvet Revolver". [68] .

I'd still love a crack at an audition for this band.  It's tough getting your feet wet in this industry, and I can really feel for all of the guys submitting demos to management.
