What makes (or made for you negative ones out there) VR so great is that there is no ONE song to define them.

Straight kick-ass rock: SLITHER
"Fun sing-along in the car" rock: GET OUT THE DOOR
Introspective-make you think rock: THE LAST FIGHT, YOU GOT NO RIGHT

List goes on & on.

I guess there is no ONE greatest song, in my opinion...

Slither.  Cool song, cool video, first look at the band - I was so jazzed about VR's debut!  It was a great first impression imho.  And the way they performed it live...priceless!

Well my favourite VR song is still Sucker Train Blues. But as Shaggins13 said it's hard to pick just one song that sums up their entire sound because they have such a range of different songs.

Slither. It clearly defines the mix of STP & GnR. I don't think any other song does it better. Plus, it was their only real single. Fall To Pieces doesn't count, it's a ballad.

It doesn't count as a single because it's a ballad?

How the fuck does that work? :|

My favourite VR song is Loving The Alien (Sometimes)

But the songs that sum up VR for me are Set Me Free, Slither, and You Got No Right because those are the first VR songs I heard way back in 2003.  (I first heard Slither from the live audio taken from their first show at the El Rey, and I first heard You Got No Right from some fashion show they did soon after.)

Like my very good friends at QotSA say, just "go with the flow". Hehe, I was kidding (about the Fall to Pieces not being counted). Fall to Pieces sounded too much like Guns N' Roses to me for it to define VR. I still stand with my pick of "Slither".

I think "Messages" is the best song they wrote.

I think "Messages" is the best song they wrote.

One of them ... no doubt.

There are a few, but "Fall To Pieces" holds a sentimental place in my heart.

  • Spay Yourself.
You Got No Right and Messages win in the ballad department.

Mary Mary and Get Out the Door are up there... Slither, of course, Spay, Headspace, Dirty Little Thing.

There's a lot. It's been a great 4 years.
